About SniffTester

SniffTester compares pet tech — GPS trackers, pet insurance, smart feeders, litter robots — the way you'd want a friend who's good at spreadsheets to do it. Most of these products look identical on a landing page. The difference shows up eighteen months later, in a monthly subscription bill or a claim denial you didn't see coming. We do that math up front, before you buy.

Every comparison models the real, multi-year cost — hardware plus subscription, not just the sticker price — and pulls in what actual owners say on Reddit and in verified-buyer reviews, not just what the manufacturer claims. The full process is on the methodology page, including where we do and don't do hands-on testing.

Here's what SniffTester is not: it's not veterinary or medical advice. If an article touches health, insurance claims, or anything that affects your pet's care, treat it as a starting point for your own research and a conversation with your vet, not a diagnosis or a recommendation to act on. See the methodology page for exactly how we build our comparisons.

This site is for people who are about to spend real money on a collar, a policy, or a robot that scoops litter, and want the boring numbers laid out before they do. If that's you, you're in the right place.

Meet Snoof, Senior Sniffmeister

Snoof, the SniffTester mascot — a yellow cartoon dog sitting attentively

The yellow dog on our TL;DR cards is Snoof, our mascot and self-appointed Senior Sniffmeister. Snoof delivers the short version of every article — the verdict and the numbers, before the reading. He has never tested a product either (see: methodology), but he has strong opinions about which humans do the subscription math properly. His are the only summaries on this site; the spreadsheets remain a human problem.

On money: SniffTester earns through affiliate links. When you buy through one, we may get a commission at no extra cost to you. We don't take sponsorships, and we don't accept free products in exchange for coverage. The full breakdown is on the disclosure page.
